🔍 Search Functionality
- You can search by **vessel name** or **destination** (e.g., Grangemouth or Glasgow).
- Searching is **pattern-matching**. You don't need to start at the beginning of a name (e.g., searching "MILFORD" will find "SVITZER MILFORD").
- Icons are **filtered as you type**.
🎚️ Set Filters (Above Map)
- **All:** The default view, showing all vessels related to the Forth and Clyde, including home waters, vessels bound for the area, and those in the Clydeside-based ship managers' fleets.
- **Company Names (e.g., Calmac, Seapeak):** Displays **ONLY** the ships currently managed by that specific company.
- **Toggle Names:** Hides vessel names for a **clearer, less cluttered** map view.
🌐 Map Coverage Area
The map tracks relevant vessels across:
- British Isles and Ireland
- European coasts and most ports
- All seas between Gibraltar and Istanbul
- West Coast of the African Continent.
🚢 Vessel Details & Icons
- **Icons:** When an icon is clicked, a pop-up shows a photo, vessel outline, destination, and port arrival/departure information (if applicable).
- **Full Details:** Click the button in the pop-up for complete, hand-entered information.
- **Icon Colouring:** Vessel icons are currently colour-coded (e.g., Calmac = red/black, Tankers = orange/red, Container ships = green/black/white). A harmonised list is coming soon.
⚠️ AIS Limitations
Data is received from **terrestrial stations only**, meaning data gaps may occur. While this is outwith our control, Forth and Clyde systems have measures in place to cover some blackout zones in home port systems.
