The data presented here, especially within the "Forth & Clyde Database," is a curated collection representing a substantial investment in obtaining, verifying, and presenting information from numerous sources. Under the Copyright and Rights in Databases Regulations 1997, the "Forth & Clyde Database" is protected by UK sui generis Database Right. This right exists to protect the "substantial investment in either the obtaining, verification, or presentation of the contents" of a database.
The collation, cross-checking, and human validation of the vessel data on this site represents such an investment. This legal right gives Forth & Clyde the exclusive ability to prevent the extraction and/or re-utilization of the whole or of a substantial part of the contents of the database.
